About The Position

This Work Matters! The Department of Community Services is looking to hire a full-time Engineering Technician 2 to join the Survey section of the Transportation division. This section is responsible for, among other things, restoring and maintaining Public Land Corners; reviewing, filing and indexing work submitted by land surveyors; county road legalization; and providing survey support for capital improvement and other county projects. In this position, you will: Operate, adjust and maintain survey instruments including: total stations, levels, data collectors and geodetic (GPS) equipment Search, locate and maintain public land corners, check and reset public land corners as necessary, assist in performing traverses and GPS surveys Perform topographic and construction surveying in different county projects Help train survey personnel in the use of equipment and survey techniques, computations, law and principles Supervise survey personnel when crew leader is unavailable Create diagrams and written records of work performed in the field Plan safe traffic control, brush and clear lines Perform other duties as assigned Who Are We? Requirements

  • Equivalent to an associate’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in an engineering or surveying technology, construction management, or related field (relevant experience can substitute for education on a year by year basis)
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in land surveying, civil engineering, or a related field
  • Valid driver license

Nice To Haves

  • Thorough knowledge of land surveying principles and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to operate various land surveying instruments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Certification as a Land Surveying Intern.
