About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Rework Specialist to join our engineering prototype lab. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing complex and precision rework, modification, and assembly of advanced electronic hardware, including high-density Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) and prototype systems. This role requires expert-level soldering, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work directly from technical schematics and layouts.Detailed Description Execute intricate PCBA rework and modifications on prototype and production boards, including fine-pitch, surface-mount, and through-hole components. Install, remove, and replace complex components, including Ball Grid Array (BGA) packages, often utilizing specialized automation equipment. Perform precise soldering and wiring tasks on high-speed and low-speed interfaces of Main Logic Boards (MLBs) and other assemblies, ensuring optimal electrical connectivity and adherence to quality standards. Accurately interpret complex electrical schematics and layout designs to identify component locations, signal routing paths, and required modification points. Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware components, interconnects, and interfaces on prototype electronic boards. Conduct thorough testing procedures to verify the functionality, performance, and integrity of reworked assemblies and prototype systems. Support engineering activities by building and assembling prototype electronic systems, breadboards, and custom cables and wiring harnesses. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all work performed, including modification procedures, test results, and troubleshooting steps. Act as a QA inspector to ensure the highest standards of workmanship. Assist with general lab organization, maintenance, and inventory management of components and equipment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (5+ years preferred) in a Rework Technician, Prototype Specialist, or similar role focused on complex electronic hardware.
  • Expert-level soldering proficiency on high-density PCBs.
  • Demonstrated experience performing Ball Grid Array (BGA) rework and installation.
  • Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics and PCBA layout diagrams.
  • Proficiency in using common lab and test equipment for hardware troubleshooting and validation.
  • Experience with prototype construction, breadboarding, and basic mechanical assembly.
  • Commitment to maintaining detailed records and adhering to quality control processes.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a strong commitment to working toward team goals.

Nice To Haves

  • BGA Certification or similar professional certifications (e.g., IPC) is highly desirable
