About The Position

As the Engineering Technical Leader for the Reactor Internal Design Tooling Team, you will lead a team of engineers who design remotely operated tooling to support installation, removal, and adjustment of Nuclear Reactor Modification Hardware. In this role, you will provide technical guidance, oversee project scheduling and resource planning, develop talent and depth through mentoring, and act as the point of contact between your engineering team and both internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 10 years expertise in mechanical design and testing, including 2D drawings and 3D modeling in a commercial setting
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internally as required up to 10%
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology.
  • GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment

Nice To Haves

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, experience with full design evolution process from concept to delivery
  • Knowledgeable about design to cost, design for manufacturability
  • Experience with a variety of fabrication techniques including conventional machining, welding, and EDM
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical content to a wide variety of stakeholders: engineers, project managers, product managers, as well as business and engineering leadership
  • Strong project planning, scheduling, and execution experience as an engineer or engineering team lead
  • Ability to successfully lead multi-disciplined teams on first-of-a-kind projects
  • Nuclear industry experience, understanding of nuclear reactor components is desirable
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and expertise of tooling designs that incorporate mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical/motor actuation
  • Creation of schedules and estimates for projects to drive the Reactor Modification Tooling design and qualification process, meeting business and customer needs
  • Oversee 3D model development, access and clearance studies, drawings, specifications, and test plans to support tooling development
  • Manage and support collaboration with the Reactor Internals Hardware Design Team, Analysis Teams, Field Deployment Teams, and Field Services Business to deliver tooling designs that meet our standards for Nuclear Quality and Safety
  • Participate in emergent issue support of customers during Outage Season to help solve challenging problems with technical guidance and a fast-paced design, build, implement response
