Engineering Tech 2 (IL) is an essential intermediate position within Creation Technologies, tasked with handling moderately complex engineering technical design activities, advanced troubleshooting, and contributing to improvement projects. This role is a stepping stone for professionals looking to deepen their engineering technical expertise, offering a blend of hands-on experience and involvement in improvement initiatives. Responsibilities include advanced troubleshooting down to the root cause level and implementation of process improvement opportunities. This role supports technical activities under the guidance of the engineering team. This position demands a proactive approach, technical proficiency, and a commitment to continuous learning and teamwork.

Requirements

College Diploma (2 Year), with relevant coursework in electronics and manufacturing processes or equivalent industry and/or military experience
Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or technical environment.
Advanced understanding of electronics manufacturing and troubleshooting.
Knowledgeable about IPC 610 Standard and/or J-STD-001.
Proficiency in interpreting technical documents and specifications.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective oral and written English communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team, managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Leadership qualities and the ability to mentor junior technicians or interns.
Proficient in using Computer systems and knowledge of CAD/CAM and programming preferred.

Nice To Haves

Effective understanding of Lean principles, six sigma and industrial ergonomics preferred.
Familiar with PLM, MES, and CMMS systems.

Responsibilities

Performs intermediate Test engineering tasks and activities under the direction of Test Engineering team.
Supports engineering test station and test procedure development.
Engaged in test station build support and the development of testing procedures to improve test efficiency, and accuracy.
Contributes to the enhancement of test documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with standards.
Engages in the maintenance and improvement of test solutions, ensuring manufacturability and alignment with product specifications.
Contributes to the troubleshooting and calibration of test equipment, enhancing the precision and reliability of test results.
Coordinates with production teams to develop and refine testing procedures and protocols, ensuring comprehensive coverage and reliable test results.
Occasionally supports production to resolve difficult debug escalations.
Working knowledge of test executables, test stand, functional test systems and LabVIEW etc.
Participates in the analysis of test data, identifying patterns and making recommendations for process improvements.
Analyzes electronic and electromechanical assemblies to determine cause of product defect to include circuit analysis, part identification diagnosis and replacement of defective components to bring product into specification.
Analyzes defective components to determine failure cause and provide report, if necessary, for Engineering and Supply Chain corrective action.
Read wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.
