About The Position

Engineering Team Leader – Metro East Distribution Area Description Engineering Team Leader – Atlanta or Minola/Tucker Location – 755 Jefferson St, Atlanta, Ga or 1697 Montreal Circle, Tucker, Ga. Candidate(s) must live in or be willing to relocate to a commutable distance from the assigned headquarters. Relocation assistance will be available if needed. Number of Openings: 2 Job Summary: The Engineering Team Leader will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and performance management for distribution activities to direct reports within the Atlanta or Minola/Tucker Operating Headquarters. They will provide safety leadership, budget management, construction scheduling, and compliance measures where needed and contribute to reliability and capital improvement strategy in the Distribution Area. The Engineering Team Leader will have the primary responsibilities of supporting, developing, and training new talent for the Distribution Area. In addition to performance management opportunities, the successful candidate(s) will be expected to support engineering co-ops and promote strategic thinking about the overall workforce. The successful candidate(s) will also be a technical expert, leading engineering on a large scale, high impact projects in the area, while demonstrating world class customer service. In addition, they will be expected to participate in and lead Distribution Area wide initiatives, projects, and committees. This role will participate in the Supervisor on-call rotation and lead local storm restoration efforts, as well as on system and off system storm events.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree strongly preferred
  • Excellent safety record and knowledge of Section “0”
  • Three or more years of Distribution Engineering experience in a power utility company is required
  • Must have proven Time Management experience involving multiple projects and customer requests.
  • Experience in SERP restoration efforts required
  • Experience with engineering design, construction and maintenance, compliance, managing manpower, reviewing job estimates, and asset management in a power utility company
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to lead and develop a diverse workforce, maximizing team effectiveness, set high expectations of those around them and hold employees accountable for those expectations
  • Must have the ability to work through customer concerns and communicate resolution to all parties

  • The position requires an in-depth knowledge of electrical distribution systems as well as distribution requirements, practices and procedures
  • Ability to act as a technical specialist is required

  • Broad understanding of the company’s operations, policies, and procedures
  • Working knowledge of TCMS, ARCOS, CSS, JETS, and strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering license a plus
  • MBA or Masters Degree is a plus
  • Storm team leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with IBEW covered personnel, system design experience, and serving on committees at a statewide level is preferred
  • Previous experience designing and presenting large and complex projects in a power utility company to higher level management for approval is preferred.
