A career in Engineering will provide the opportunity to perform general engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments. This typically includes designing and scaling up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment, and testing manufactured products to maintain quality. Additionally, this includes planning, designing and estimating time and cost, and overseeing construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems and components. This role may analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures. This also involved developing and applying engineering standards and procedures, and providing advice on issues within the engineering field. These roles may perform engineering duties in various specialty areas including network engineering, design engineering, system planning engineering, and other specialties. Additionally, this role may need to be able to apply Computer Aided Design (CAD) techniques to generate and interpret engineering designs in support of assigned projects. This includes organizing the 3D models and conducting internal and external 3D review meetings and proficient in computer functions required to perform 3D CAD. Roles within Engineering are responsible for a variety of engineering services functions that could include construction, systems engineering, design support, or similar engineering support activities. This includes ensuring the timely, thorough, and accurate completion of all engineering services projects. This also includes the preparation of new or modified designs. The Engineering Services team also maintains various activities and reports, drawing reproduction, and customer documentation. The team also selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. The team also must act as Subject Matter Experts providing technical support to the operations function as well as other functional areas within SJI including, Rates and Regulatory and Government Affairs.
