POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for repair and service of all mechanical equipment in property including refrigeration equipment. Assist the Chief and Assistant Chief Engineers with the supervision of the department.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must have ability to estimate cost on projects related to refrigeration, HVAC, heating and machinery.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations, including, but not limited to the following statutes and their comparable state and local laws (where applicable): Title VII, ADEA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, and NLRA.
  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • Must have a minimum of five years hands on experience as a mechanic working on HVAC equipment, pumps, refrigeration equipment, boilers, and control systems.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
  • First class operating engineer’s license for boilers and a/c is required.
  • All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Starwood standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of the Assistant Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer, perform general repair and maintenance of any and all equipment found in and around the hotel.
  • Specific work areas will be assigned as needed to each employee, based on skill level and experience.
  • Accurate record keeping on assigned tasks is required.
  • Ensure that all safety systems are operable.
  • Respond to guest room calls as required.
