About The Position

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of all related manufacturing equipment & processes required to manufacture a high-quality product in a repeatable and cost-effective manner As such the Engineering Supervisor must have background and experience in all the following processes of manufacturing printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies, Aegis software, surface mount technology (SMT), through-hole manufacturing processes, automated placement systems, solder reflow, and mechanical assembly processes as well as an understanding in product introduction and development The Engineering Supervisor will drive improvements in all related manufacturing processes, including those related to products, equipment, human interface, and product quality Responsibilities include the "operational ownership" of all manufacturing processes, as well as support of all related products during their manufacturing lifecycle This position requires active involvement with the production processes and personnel Through partnerships with the production personnel, the Engineering Supervisor and their team will provide technical support for all critical processes and product issue resolution as well as technical direction to the production staff Supports document control activities to ensure documentation correctness and completeness is available for all product builds and process operations The Engineering Supervisor must be a problem solver who combines their technical knowledge with that of human capabilities and operational limitations. The Engineering Supervisor should be able to organize many details and manage multiple priorities related to operations and organization They must be able to communicate with both operations personnel and management with equal effectiveness and professionalism

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years experience as manufacturing/process engineer/technician
  • 2 years experience in SMT and through-hole manufacturing processes, automated placement systems, solder reflow, and mechanical assembly process
  • Must have EMS Experience
  • Must have SMT equipment programming experience

Responsibilities

  • Increasing productivity through the support and leadership of people, processes, and technology
  • Ensures production equipment is capable and has capacity for growth; involves integrating equipment, people, material flow systems, and information systems
  • Develop and maintain process quality control systems to ensure product quality
  • Drive continuous improvement in labor costs through waste reduction, production efficiency, and operations improvement
  • Responsible for automation equipment programming and ensuring machine performance
  • Evaluate, implement, and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of printed circuit boards, sub-assemblies, and mechanical assemblies
  • Use mathematical modeling to understand process equipment and staffed plant capacities
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving all factory processes and related metrics
  • Provides ongoing product & process improvements to meet quality and production goals
  • Provides "on the floor" technical support as required for critical process and product issues
  • Ability to design manufacturing processes, evaluate results and drive solutions to improve the processes
  • Works closely with production and support teams to manage workflow
  • Edit and maintain necessary documentation
  • Supports new product introduction

  • Determine capital equipment needs & assist in the budget process, return on investment calculations for equipment, training, software, and equipment installation projects
  • Prepare procedures, reports, and plans pertaining to Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Maintain software used for programming and process development
  • Develop the Engineering team through training and development on all aspects of Engineering
  • May be asked to perform other duties at a lower or higher level of proficiency or not related to this classification on occasion
