The Hydraulics Unit provides hydrologic and hydraulic design recommendations and advice to all DOT personnel on surface drainage and stormwater quality matters that are required for the development of the department’s multi-modal projects during the stages of planning, design, permitting, construction and maintenance. The Unit also manages two statewide Federal compliance programs: National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and supports extreme event operations. The Hydraulics Unit is seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Supervisor III to serve as a Project Engineer in the Operations Section. This role will focus on providing technical expertise, policy coordination, and training to internal staff and private engineering firms in support of hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) studies and designs. In this role you will: •Manage multiple teams of teams of engineers and technicians, as well as coordinate with private engineering firms, to provide technical support and conduct Hydrological and Hydraulic (H&H) Studies and Designs. •Support the Divisions’ activities, including Force Account, Purchase Order Contracts (POC), emergency repairs, low-impact and State-Funded Bridge Replacements, encroachment and subdivision reviews, responding to drainage complaints/inquiries (private citizens, local government, legislative, interagency, etc.), •Provide project management, personnel management and resource management.
