About The Position

This position performs technical work in the Wastewater Management Program under the direction of the Permitting & Field Services Environmental Manager. This position will: Assist with technical reviews of wastewater management projects and make recommendations for approval or disapproval. With supervision, provide regulatory assistance, such as conducting permitting determinations and exemptions. Ensure that the data entry corresponding to all assigned projects is entered into the department's databases and Oculus timely and appropriately, consistent with standard operating procedures. Ensure reports are processed in accordance with established program rules, requirements, and policies. Assist in training activities related to the wastewater management program, including drafting presentations and developing training modules. Provide assistance with the Water Tracker call center during emergency events. Travel is required in the performance of assigned duties. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to understand concepts, terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of engineering.
  • Knowledge of data collection and analysis principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of software packages for the generation of documents, spreadsheets, and information management.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable state and federal rules, regulations, legislation, policies, and procedures relating to wastewater management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and complete work assignments.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze, and interpret scientific or technical data.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to use computer systems for data entry and retrieval.
  • Ability to prepare technical and programmatic reports.
  • Ability to travel outside Tallahassee to perform the duties of the position.
  • At least 4 years of verifiable related experience. Post-secondary degrees may be used as an alternative for the required years of experience on a year-for-year basis. A credential evaluation report from an approved agency must be submitted along with all foreign degrees.
  • Travel is required.
  • Valid Driver License.
