About The Position

As a Configuration and Technical Writing Manager II, you will leverage your expertise to manage the configuration of our engineering and manufacturing products through a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. Our diverse product portfolio includes advanced mission payloads, electronic systems, and highly integrated aircraft. In this role, you will plan and coordinate the preparation of product structures and technical documents to ensure compliance with customer requirements, company standards, and industry regulations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the accuracy of product data—such as Parts and Bills of Materials (BoMs)—and auditing configuration management system usage to verify product configuration integrity. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressive engineering services experience, including 4+ years in a management role.
  • Proven experience working with multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Prior experience in Configuration Management with a comprehensive understanding of Configuration Item (CI) principles, as defined by MIL-HDBK-61 and Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) 649, including the tagging of Hardware Configuration Item (HWCI) and Computer Software Configuration Item (CSCI).
  • Thorough knowledge of technical writing principles, practices, and standards.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain United States Secret Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using PDM/PLM systems such as Enovia 3Dxperience, Windchill, and CAD tools like CATIA V5/V6, SOLIDWORKS, Teamcenter, Creo, NX, ProEngineer, or AutoCAD.
  • Certification in Configuration Management disciplines.
  • Expertise in generating and maintaining product structures that adhere to industry-standard design principles, including parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware/electrical component selection, fabrication, and production processes.
  • In-depth understanding of the engineering release and control processes for data associated with systems, mechanical, electrical, printed circuit board, and/or software products.
  • Experience working with industry standards such as AS 9100, ISO 9001, EIA-649, MIL-HDBK-61, IEEE 828, and/or CMMI.
  • Effective collaboration skills with inter-department organizations and customer teams related to configuration management and documentation deliverables.
  • Strong skills in product configuration definition and product structure development.
  • Proficiency in desktop publishing tools, including advanced features in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe tools for creating and editing technical documents with graphics and other embedded content.
  • Experience planning and preparing Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables, technical documentation, test plans, procedures, and operational manuals.
  • Ability to prepare documentation with minimal input (verbal or written) from subject matter experts, such as engineers or program managers
  • Familiarity with internal technical reference documentation, including data libraries, training materials, and process/procedure guides
  • Skilled in reviewing, editing, and formatting business proposals, product management documents, RFP responses, marketing communications, and other organizational documentation.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense industry, the U.S. Department of Defense, or the U.S. Military.
