We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional to join the Manufacturing Engineering team as the Section Manager for the Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) area. The Section Manager will be directly responsible for managing a functional team of engineers. This work includes prioritizing tasks to meet the customer’s needs, coordinating resources, managing team staffing levels and interfacing with strategic make center personnel and leaders. The Section Manager will also be responsible for training, coaching, mentoring, employee performance development and ensuring each engineer is performing to the standards set by the Factory and Operations Engineering. The Section Manager is responsible for the technical quality of engineering tasks, product compliance and providing critical oversight to his/her team of engineers including staffing and approval of timecards. This Section Manager will possess skills necessary to develop sustaining solutions to routine technical problems, troubleshoot manufacturing systems and lead root cause and corrective action. The Section Manager will be asked to participate or lead functional or factory improvement projects. This position is intended to be a working Manager and the candidate will have additional assignments in support of the make center. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform as a technical engineering leader with a strong understanding of the manufacturing processes and products. The candidate will possess a passion for functional leadership and be able to demonstrate a high level of maturity and emotional intelligence. This position requires direct support of manufacturing activities and spending a large amount of time directly on the factory floor in support of a highly demanding dynamic environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure production objectives are met while maintaining a strong emphasis on quality, efficiency, and safety. As part of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will contribute to supporting a wide range of manufacturing and development programs at Raytheon. Our work focuses on advanced electronic hardware for radar, missile, and combat systems. Located in Andover, MA, our state-of-the-art facility spans over 1.7 million square feet, dedicated to assembling and testing high-performance products.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experienced technical expertise in electronics manufacturing processes, including knowledge of production techniques, quality control, and industry standards for electronic components and systems
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Experience with related military and industry standards and specifications.

  • Experience with lean principles in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with J-STD-001/IPC-A-610 (Circuit Card Assembly Industry Standards)
  • Experience in leading people/teams
  • Expertise in dispositioning non-conforming material, including root cause and corrective action analysis.

  • Experience in specialized tooling development (e.g., jigs, fixtures, specialized packaging).

  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to contribute both individually and in a team setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Section Manager for 6+ individuals in the CCA assembly process, leading the team that addresses production issues, resolving complex challenges, and driving process optimization, cost reduction, and cycle time improvement.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance and career development discussions to the team
  • Translate engineering design requirements into actionable solutions, including the development and maintenance of detailed manufacturing process documentation, and guide junior team members in documentation best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams— Operations, Design, Test, Manufacturing, and Quality—to ensure seamless communication, integration of design requirements, and alignment on production goals.
  • Lead and coach corrective action investigations by dispositioning discrepant hardware, identifying root causes, and implementing preventive measures, mentoring less experienced engineers in root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Lead teams to Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities, including contributing to process improvement initiatives and specialized tooling development (e.g., jigs, fixtures, and packaging), while coaching junior team members to actively participate in improvement projects.
  • Drive a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and safety, coordinating across disciplines and suppliers to ensure best practices are upheld in all aspects of manufacturing operations.
