Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries. As an Engineering Project Team Leader in the Power Electronic Systems & Component team, you will be joining an innovative team on the cutting edge of electrification. You will have the unique opportunity to direct and lead the power electronics design projects, lead the concept, development, and design of power electronic components. The Power Electronics team is part of the Integrated Drivetrain organization and is responsible for end-to-end design and development of power electronics for multiple Caterpillar applications. You will partner with other members of the design team as well as provide project guidance to global team members. You will be responsible for the execution and coordination of the design efforts necessary for the successful design and development of medium voltage power electronic components. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a highly experienced team of engineers having significant experience across Caterpillar electric drive and stationary power conversion applications.

Requirements

  • Technical Excellence: Extensive design and product development knowledge for components, systems, automotive or mobile drive applications
  • Analytical Thinking: Experience with validation and testing methods.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.
  • Product Development Life Cycle - MFG: Knowledge of the methodology and associated phases, activities and deliverables of product development life cycle in manufacturing organizations; ability to bring new or enhanced products to the marketplace.
  • Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Engineering Degree Requirement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electric drive systems is a plus
  • Experience with quality tools including FMEA, APQP & PPAP
  • Experience with Issue resolution process

Responsibilities

  • Work with the machine business division and drivetrain system engineering groups to establish the application requirements for power electronics components/systems
  • Work on power conversion NPI & NTI machine/product programs
  • Detailed collaboration with the Cat India team for electrical design and the release of circuit schematics and component prints and 3D models.
  • Will also play an active role in supplier selection and development of the potential suppliers for the electrical designs limited travel required
  • Identify and work with other Caterpillar SMEs on aspects of the design in which team does not have the expertise to complete on their own
  • Stay up to date with the latest advances in power electronics technologies and solutions
  • Perform complete requirements generation, component design, simulation, validation and production development for new power inverters and converters
