About The Position

Metalex powered by UPG is looking for an Engineering Manager for our Libertyville, IL location. The Engineering Manager oversees a team dedicated to the design and manufacturing of stamped and fabricated metal parts. This role encompasses leadership in project management, production, operation, repair, and maintenance of equipment while ensuring alignment with organizational best practices. The manager guides projects, optimizing the use of modeling and manufacturing tools, and fosters collaborative efforts among mechanical engineers to achieve project completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in Engineering Supervision
  • Metal Stamping and/or Fabrication experience is required
  • Experienced in geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GDT)
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and a sense of urgency
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of Engineering for a manufacturing plant which may include Engineering projects, product design, equipment maintenance, process improvement, quoting/costing, and BOM/Routing maintenance
  • Supervise a team of Engineers and Draftsmen; assign projects and ensure successful completion
  • Identify process improvement initiatives and execute projects to improve safety, quality, cost, and productivity
  • Employ Lean and Six Sigma concepts and practices
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other plant departments including Operations, Quality, Sales, and Human Resources
  • Track and report KPI's, project statistics, timelines, budgets etc.
  • Develop and implement efficient processes and procedures
  • Utilize and demonstrate proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other 3D CAD systems
  • Engage in project controls, prototyping, and requirements engineering/analysis
  • Create, maintain, and/or propose changes to company SOPs, Work instructions, Forms, and Records
  • Coordinate time studies determining manufacturing process times
