As an Engineering Manager at Virtru, you will be responsible for the high-quality production of our digital privacy products. You will report to the VP of Engineering and oversee the technical success of your team, including their contributions to the open-source OpenTDF project. The ideal candidate will have a passion for digital privacy, software development, and solving complex problems, with a focus on engineering challenges related to data security, scalability, and distributed systems. This role requires self-motivation and a commitment to continual improvement in our software development process. You will need to make tough technical decisions collaboratively, especially for complex enterprise and federal deployments, including on-premise and air-gapped environments.

  • Mentor and develop engineers along their personal development paths.
  • Ensure the technical success of the team and their contributions to the OpenTDF project.
  • Participate in design discussions, architectural decisions, and code reviews.
  • Manage a cross-functional engineering team of 5 or more.
  • Drive continual improvement in the software development process.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a cross-functional engineering team.
  • At least 5 years as a hands-on Software Engineer in a language like Go, Java, or C++.
  • Proven expertise in software architecture and design patterns.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development principles.
  • Willingness to pitch in where needed and unblock engineers.
  • Deep, hands-on development experience with Go (GoLang).
  • Experience with Java or JavaScript.
  • Experience deploying and managing solutions in an on-premise or air-gapped environment using DevOps practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
  • Professional background in data security, cryptography, or identity management.
