About The Position

The Engineering Manager is responsible for defining, implementing, and standardizing manufacturing and engineering methods to ensure robust, repeatable, and cost-effective production. This role leads Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives, oversees Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and ensures seamless integration of new products into production. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, leadership, and strategic vision to maintain our competitive edge.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience creating and implementing engineering best practices and process standardization in a precision manufacturing environment utilizing lean manufacturing methods.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering within precision manufacturing industries.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams.
  • Experience leading APQP and NPI standardization Initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Expertise in CNC machining, tooling, and fixture design.

  • Background in high-precision manufacturing; defense, aerospace, nuclear, etc.
  • Experience with defense/aerospace industry compliance requirements.
  • Experience with contract manufacturing for government contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic standardization plan for manufacturing methodologies, including CNC machining, tooling, fixturing, and workholding.
  • Oversee implementation of standardized work including the creation and validation of detailed work instructions and process documentation for all manufacturing operations.
  • Implement best practices for DFM, ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency in process designs.
  • Lead APQP activities to ensure successful new product launches and compliance with quality standards.
  • Manage the transfer to production for new parts and assemblies.
  • Coordinate industrialization of internal manufacturing processes (CNC milling, turning, gun-drilling, rifling, assembly, testing, finishing) and external suppliers for specialized processes.
  • Oversee programming, tooling selection, and initial setups for new product introductions.
  • Standardize hand-off process from engineering to the manufacturing team.
  • Drive productivity, quality, and cost improvements through lean manufacturing principles and process optimization.
  • Research and implement new technologies to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
  • Identify skill gaps and collaborate with leadership to build a high-performing engineering team.
  • Align engineering resources to serve as technical SME’s for manufacturing processes and specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers and customers, including DFM feedback and process documentation.
  • Support compliance with defense industry standards and customer requirements.
