The Engineering Manager at W. R. Grace & Co. will oversee the plant's process engineering, maintenance, and technical effectiveness at the Chicago 71st site. This leadership role is critical in driving business and operational objectives, including EHS, Quality, Productivity, and Cost Effectiveness. The manager will lead a team of engineers to ensure high-quality product production and improve operational efficiency.

  • Oversight of process engineering operational plans to ensure high quality product is produced, to maximize production rates, and to improve production yield.
  • Manages production yield, rate, & quality performance data and improves product recipes and control plans.
  • Aids in the investigation of quality issues and troubleshoots process deviations.
  • Establishes and tracks site maintenance KPIs and focuses on process equipment reliability and OEE.
  • Reviews operations processes and procedures, creating opportunities for improvement in productivity, cost reduction, and process improvements.
  • Supports production operations ensuring safe, timely, and efficient maintenance of all operations equipment and assets.
  • Manages the engagement, performance, and development of staff.
  • Promotes the development of a continuous improvement culture, including Six Sigma and Lean tools.
  • Partners with Corporate Process Technology team to manage new product development and production trials.
  • Ensures that operating procedures and process information is developed for new product introductions.
  • Supports capital project teams with technical process expertise.
  • BS degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical.
  • 10 years of operations experience in industrial manufacturing engineering roles including leadership/management experience.
  • Proven supervisor/leadership experience.
  • Previous experience in capital and budget management.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and mentor staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with process technology and maintenance management.
  • Leadership and technical expertise in chemical manufacturing.
