Requirements

  • BSc/MSc degree in Engineering.
  • Eight (8) years of work experience as an Engineering Supervisor or similar leadership role in engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management and knowledge of the principles of management and supervision.
  • Demonstrated budget preparation and management experience.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering principles and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and team management.
  • Proficiency in CAD software.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) at an intermediate level.
  • Valid state issued driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • PE Preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Director of Engineering with the planning, design, and implementation of engineering projects within the organization.
  • Oversee the daily operation of the department, assuring departmental goals are accomplished.
  • Leads and manages the engineering team, providing technical guidance and training.
  • Develops and implements engineering strategies, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assesses and evaluates technical operations and systems, proposing recommendations and solutions for improvement.
  • Oversee and administer the operation of assigned sections and programs and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines, requirements, and regulations.
  • Manage, review, and report on departmental workload data metrics to the Director of Engineering for conformance to contractual requirements and areas of special emphasis.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Engineering Services Department annual budget.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinates staff training.
  • Oversee safety programs for assigned sections and work groups; assist with action planning for safety programs.
  • Provide responsible staff assistance to the Director of Engineering Services; conduct a variety of organizational strategy studies, investigations, and operational studies.
  • Participate in the preparation and review of a variety of reports; conducts studies and prepares reports for current and long-range engineering projects.
  • Attend a variety of boards, commissions and committees; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
  • Participate in providing customer service to internal and external customers; respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints.
  • Works closely with other department leaders to coordinate project goals and objectives.
  • Keeps up-to-date with the latest engineering trends, techniques, and methods, implementing them into operations where necessary.
  • Serve as designee to NASA Chief Engineer as Engineering Technical Authority Liaison.
  • Serve in acting capacity in absence of the Director of Engineering.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
