Miller Electric, an ITW company, is seeking an Engineering Manager to join the Welding Accessories and Cutting team. As the Engineer Manager, you will play a key leadership role in helping drive customer back innovation to meet the needs of our customers identified through the voice of customer. You would be responsible for product development from beginning through end with the partnership of other cross functional areas, including maintaining sustaining engineering needs as needed. This role is directly responsible for leading a team of engineers, designers, and laboratory technicians to support development, testing, and launch of products across the division portfolio.

  • Develop your team and build a pipeline for a growing engineering team
  • Lead by example in demonstrating the ITW core values: Integrity, Simplicity, Trust, Respect, and Shared Risk.
  • Work with your team to identify key projects and ensure they receive the support they need through goal setting, coaching, performance management, and recognition.
  • Identify needs of the business and escalate requests as necessary.
  • Flex resources to rally around key projects.
  • Responsible for team management through the product development process.
  • Lead product development from concepts through various stages of prototyping to final design and design transfer by applying engineering principles including product requirements, concept design and selection, prototyping, validation, etc.
  • Provides engineering and technical support to production and supplier partners with respect to product specifications and requirements.
  • Guides the successful completion of major programs or projects.
  • Manages technical lab support, priorities, and budgetary planning for laboratory efforts.
  • Support industry technical trend analysis to help identify future opportunities and evaluate their impact/feasibility of development to aid in opportunity selection.
  • Work cross functionally on a number of projects.
  • Manage the engineering team's tactical activity to ensure proper prioritization and execution to timelines and customer commitments via cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop deep technical relationships with stakeholders at key 80 customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to respectfully bring up concerns along with actively listening to solutions and coming together for resolution.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • B.S Engineering Degree
  • Minimum of 8+ years related work experience required
  • High degree of technical acumen
  • Project Management work experience
  • Ability to define, execute, and status projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint,) & Solidworks
  • Familiarity with ANSI, OSHA, NIOSH specifications preferred
  • Ability to train and coach others from technical expertise - prior leadership experience is preferred.
