About The Position

Barge Design Solutions is looking for a Water/Wastewater Engineering Manager in both the Nashville and Knoxville offices. This role is a technical discipline manager or market practice area manager and coordinates work with Project Managers to assign technical resources on projects in a manner that positively impacts the business and employee experience. This role has responsibility to ensure direct reports' utilization and billable rates are acceptable. Work at this level is characterized also by working on projects with some complex features or portions of larger conventional projects. This role functions as a technical design lead on projects as well as the technical discipline or practice area manager in their role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited program. Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience. Registered PE.
  • Solid technical knowledge in Water/Wastewater concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization.
  • Effectively collaborate with business and teams to meet defined objectives.
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivate employees.
  • Sets priorities and reconciles information from competing interests.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a technical area, discipline, or market practice area facilitating a collaborative work environment and advancing initiatives that support a positive employee experience.
  • Provides technical consulting on program objectives and requirements.
  • As needed, provides technical input with proposals and Project Management Plans to provide accurate estimates for projects or programs.
  • Operates as a technical lead on portions of larger conventional projects or smaller complex projects.
  • Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.
  • Reviews and provides feedback to engineer's specifications, documents, drawings, plans, and reports. May complete these items if needed.
  • Designs a component, or process on a complex projects or designs complete a project, systems, or components on conventional projects.
  • Responsibility for completing project documents.
  • Attends meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Works to reduce department projects costs to drive competitive status.
  • Develops and builds positive relationships with clients, direct reports, officials, contractors, and others.
  • Supports and implements strategic and business planning activities.
  • Manages a smaller group employee.
  • This role will have talent management responsibilities for a group of individuals including, but not limited to selection, development, and coaching for improvement.
  • May recommend separations.
  • This role mentors other professionals.
