About The Position

• Lead multi-discipline engineering team with direct production support to provide safe, quality and efficient operations in the VAD processing areas to meet KPI and OI impact targets. • Implement continuous process improvements and support development/implementation of new products. • Provide technical leadership for process equipment maintenance and capital expenditure projects. • Lead day to day process engineering activities to ensure safe, quality driven and efficient operations for meeting customer expectations • Manage multi-discipline engineering team • Meet production requirements for KPI and OI impact targets. • Maintain and trouble-shoot VAD process equipment and process to ensure business continuity. • Provide technical leadership for capital expenditure projects. • Implement continuous process improvements to drive cost reductions with enhanced quality • Drive cost reductions through core cost analysis • Provide VAD core making capacity planning • Maintain adequate core/preform inventory control • Provide cross-functional engineering and technical support for entire manufacturing process (core-to-preform-to-fiber) • Provide external technical leadership with key external raw material suppliers and equipment providers • Support different parts of the organization, including R&D, Sales, and Marketing

Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering degree.
  • Must have 5 years of progressive experience in Engineering positions in a global manufacturing environment performing/utilizing the following:
  • Managing multi-discipline engineering team(s), responsible for equipment maintenance, process, quality, and R&D.
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical and chemical systems in industrial applications.
  • Data analysis using statistical methods/principles
  • Apply a multidiscipline approach in process development and problem solving
  • Leading large scale, complex, cross-functional technical projects.
  • Collaborating within different parts of organization, including R&D, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Working with external suppliers to drive product improvements and address technical issues
  • Optical fiber/glass plant operations engineering
  • Utilizing experience with: Vapor Axial Deposition (VAD) processes and equipment; and utility and invention patent certification process
  • Position may be eligible to work remotely but is based out of and reports to OFS offices in Norcross, GA. Must be available to travel to Norcross, GA regularly for meetings and reviews with manager and project teams within 24-hours’ notice.
