About The Position

This role offers the opportunity to lead a team of power system engineers responsible for transmission planning studies and projects. You will manage client engagements, oversee project execution, and drive process improvements while mentoring and developing engineering talent. The position blends technical leadership, project management, and business development, with exposure to advanced modeling and analysis of power systems. You will ensure high-quality deliverables that meet client needs and industry standards, while contributing to the growth and success of both the team and the organization. The environment is collaborative, technically challenging, and focused on shaping the future of the electric grid. Remote work is supported, with occasional travel as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a focus on Power Systems; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in the electric energy industry, with hands-on experience in transmission or power system studies and design.
  • Experience managing a team of 2–10 engineers.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard power system software (PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, TARA, CAPE, Aspen, PSCAD).
  • Strong project management and client-facing skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical teams and drive team performance.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel (10% or less).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of power system engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development.
  • Perform high-level transmission planning and power system studies using industry-standard software such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerWorld, TARA, ASPEN, CAPE, and PSCAD.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects, meeting quality, budget, and client satisfaction objectives.
  • Interact with clients to understand project requirements, address concerns, and align study outcomes with business needs.
  • Develop and review transmission study methodologies, processes, and system models for generation, load, transmission lines, and transformers.
  • Identify system violations and develop optimal upgrade and constraint mitigation plans.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including RFP responses, scope of work documents, and project planning.
  • Drive process improvements to maximize team efficiency while maintaining high standards of deliverable quality.
