We're looking for an engineering manager to lead our Service Infrastructure team and shape the future of how Anthropic builds and deploys AI systems at scale. This team is architecting the foundation that empowers our entire organization to build revolutionary AI products. The team will be a force multiplier across the company by building a best in class kubernetes infra, networking stack, deployment processes, sandboxing infrastructure and more for the product engineering organization. As we scale rapidly, both in terms of service count and load, we need a manager with strong infrastructure experience to help define the future of our service infrastructure at Anthropic.

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of infrastructure engineers focused on service management, networking, deployment processes, and local development experience for product
  • Architect and build scalable service infrastructure that enables product teams to spin up and deploy services effortlessly
  • Develop multi-cluster Kubernetes and service mesh solutions to support our growing service ecosystem
  • Lead the evolution of extending our research infrastructure for use by our product teams (E.g. RL fine tuning or Sandboxing)
  • Collaborate with product teams to understand their needs and build infrastructure that accelerates their feature delivery
  • Make build vs buy decisions, evaluating and implementing 3rd party solutions when most impactful
  • Work with your team to set the strategic vision for service infrastructure at Anthropic
  • Have 8+ years of experience working in infrastructure and 3+ years of experience managing an infrastructure team
  • Have a strong technical background in service management, Kubernetes, networking, CI/CD, or general infrastructure
  • Embody the startup approach of moving fast and iterating - you can help your team find the right balance between speed and polish for each situation
  • Experience recruiting, scaling, and retaining engineering talent in a high-growth environment
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with ability to work effectively across functions
  • Be obsessed with distributed systems at scale, service reliability, scalability, security, and continuous improvement
  • Have experience scaling service infrastructure as a service to broader organizations
  • Possess deep knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure including Kubernetes, Envoy, service mesh technologies, and CI/CD systems
  • Have experience building infrastructure for AI applications with LLMs
  • Be passionate about developer productivity and improving the developer experience
