About The Position

This role is a leadership opportunity for an experienced engineering manager to build, grow, and mentor a high-performing remote team focused on a cutting-edge search product. You will lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, distributed data processing systems that enable customers to access, analyze, and leverage operational data across multiple platforms and formats. This position involves hands-on technical guidance, strategic planning, and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure system performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction. You will cultivate a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation, while driving the team to deliver high-quality, maintainable software. The ideal candidate combines technical depth in distributed systems, observability, and cloud-native architectures with proven leadership and team-building skills. You will have the chance to shape the roadmap, influence engineering practices, and contribute directly to solving complex data challenges at scale.

Requirements

• 8+ years of industry experience, including at least 4 years in a technical leadership role managing high-performing engineering teams.
• Proven experience in building, scaling, and leading remote or distributed teams of engineers.
• Deep expertise in high-scale, distributed systems architecture and high-volume data processing.
• Familiarity with observability tools and technologies, either as a user or developer.
• Hands-on experience building applications with Node.js; TypeScript experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in Agile development environments and working with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a cross-functional team of software engineers, fostering technical excellence and high-performance collaboration.
• Oversee the design, development, testing, and maintenance of distributed search and data processing systems.
• Establish and enforce best practices for coding, system design, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
• Collaborate with product management and operations teams to refine, prioritize, and execute the Search product roadmap.
• Align engineering efforts with customer needs to ensure high-quality deliverables that delight users.
• Drive cross-team coordination and alignment with other engineering initiatives to maintain consistency across the broader platform.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and innovation within the team.
