About E&ES: Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries. Job Summary: The Power Electronics Engineering Manager role leads the strategy, development, and delivery of low‑voltage power electronics that enable Caterpillar’s electrified portfolio, from early technology development through production. The position manages and mentors a team of engineers, provides technical leadership across inverter and converter architectures, and drives execution excellence, cost, and continuous improvement. Through close collaboration with systems, manufacturing, sourcing, and suppliers, the role helps scale sustainable, high‑impact electrification solutions aligned with business priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Extensive experience and knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive experience and knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Technical Excellence: Extensive experience and knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Communicating for Impact: Working knowledge of the concepts, tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating; ability to apply these theories to receive, tranasmit and accurately interpret information and ideas to influence others in various situations.
  • Managing People: Extensive experience and knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
  • Influencing Through Expertise: Extensive experience and knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.

  • Electronic component development experience, ideally in Power Electronics

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of 10–15 engineers responsible for delivering world‑class low‑voltage power electronics hardware through innovative NTI development and the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
  • Own hardware delivery through production, including production maintenance, CPI, and cost‑reduction initiatives, while driving staffing strategy, organizational design, coaching, career development, and performance management.
  • Establish and execute a sustainable power electronics product line strategy while driving execution excellence, design rigor, and continuous process improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership across inverter and converter architectures, shaping future applications of power electronics across Caterpillar’s electrified portfolio.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with systems teams, sourcing, manufacturing, and suppliers, making sourcing and technical trade decisions aligned with business priorities.
