About The Position

Are you a leader who thrives in fast-paced product development and loves working across functions to bring high-performance products to market? Senior Metal Bellows designs and manufactures mission-critical components for the Aerospace, Defense, Medical, and Energy sectors, and we’re looking for the right Engineering Manager to lead our New Product Development (NPD) team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Manager for NPD provides both strategic and hands-on leadership to a cross-functional team of Design, Project, and Manufacturing Engineers responsible for launching new products and accelerating process innovation. You will lead the full technical execution of new product development, guiding projects from concept and design through prototyping, validation, and production release with the support of a high-performing engineering team. We are looking for a hands-on leader and change agent with a strong mechanical engineering acumen, customer management experience, and collaborative problem-solving skills who has a passion for developing engineers, strengthening cross-functional partnerships, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engineering rigor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive engineering experience in aerospace, precision manufacturing, or other high-reliability industries.
  • Minimum 3 years in engineering leadership or management with a record of leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFx), and product qualification.
  • Experience working within AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical design (FEA, Vibration, Fatigue, etc.) and manufacturing processes such as welding, forming, machining, and assembly..
  • Able to manage multiple complex projects and balance technical and business priorities under tight timelines.
  • Skilled in interpreting customer specifications and flow-down requirements with full configuration control.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, including customer and executive interaction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineering talent while building collaboration and accountability across teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with aerospace or defense customers and familiarity with requirements for mission-critical components.
  • Understanding of the capabilities of CAD, PDM, and engineering analysis tools and experience driving tool or process improvements.
  • Familiarity working with Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of 8–10 multidisciplinary engineers through mentorship, training, performance management, and strong technical guidance.
  • Own the full New Product Development (NPD) process, driving cross-functional collaboration from concept and design through prototyping, qualification, and initial production.
  • Champion strategic improvement initiatives, including design tool development, process standardization, and adoption of engineering best practices to boost efficiency and product quality.
  • Contribute to the Engineering Technology Roadmap, ensuring new projects align with company strategy, customer requirements, and core engineering and manufacturing principles.
  • Review and approve technical deliverables such as design packages, compliance matrices, customer documentation, and project schedules to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to requirements.
  • Manage to engineering cost estimates, collaborating with partner teams to improve accuracy, transparency, and meet recurring cost targets.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with all stakeholders (internal and external), including executives, operations, sales, quality, suppliers, and customers to maintain alignment, ensure transparency, and support timely decision-making.
  • Strengthen communication and knowledge sharing across Engineering and the broader organization.
