Manages engineering staff and activities for the New England/Upstate New York (NE/UNY) market area. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Manages post collection operations, including capital budgets for landfills and transfer stations. Organizes and schedules all necessary engineering resources required to accomplish activities. Monitors department work processes, procedures and expenses, and establishes programs which drive team performance toward departmental and organizational goals. Reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures. Oversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions. Submits reasonable budget information and analyzes data versus year-to-date data and prior year budget. Manages departmental projects as needed. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems. Develops and tests components, equipment, and systems applying principles and techniques of electrical, mechanical, chemical, and/or industrial engineering. Functions as a working team member and provides technical and administrative direction to other engineering staff. Reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures. Ensures that department project goals are met within the stated guidelines and requirements.
