We are seeking a Principal Engineering Manager in Marlborough, MA. This position is responsible for managing the engineering development and program execution of FPGA and Board Support Package (BSP) SW development for Collins Aerospace Mission Systems (MiS). Responsibilities include engineering management and engaged involvement in all aspects of FPGA and software development and integration efforts as well as project management skills including earned value analysis. A strong candidate will have applicable development and/or management experience in FPGA and/or BSP software. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Experience in all product development phases from concept, initial planning, Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), final qualification testing, and factory transition
  • High-level understanding of systems and hardware development
  • Proven ability to guide and lead development processes, develop the team composition, and will be responsible for training
  • DevOps concepts for the automated build/test/release of FPGA solutions
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with bid narrative write-ups, earned value reporting
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Subversion and GIT, SEER-SEM or SEER-H estimation modeling tool
  • Experience in use of embedded Operating Systems using Linux, Green Hills Integrity, VxWorks, and\or LynxOS
  • Experience with Agile development concepts

Responsibilities

  • Managing the engineering development and program execution of FPGA and Board Support Package (BSP) SW development for Collins Aerospace Mission Systems (MiS)
  • Engineering management and engaged involvement in all aspects of FPGA and software development and integration efforts
  • Project management skills including earned value analysis
  • Planning, organizing, resource allocation, personnel development, performance reviews, salary planning, and overall group management FPGA and SW engineers
  • Providing project execution direction to the engineering team
  • Demonstrating sound decision-making skills, communication skills, networking skills, and able to accurately forecast project work and costs
  • Working directly with and/or managing daily activities of FPGA and SW engineers, project engineering, program management, and supporting organizations to develop FPGAs and BSP SW for military products based on product line architectures
  • Leading the engineering team using strong interaction, interpersonal, mentoring and negotiating skills
  • Managing project risks/issues and elevating to upper management when appropriate
  • Adhering to and supporting Collins process methodologies while developing and managing commitments to meet project financial and schedule deliverables and quality requirements
  • Guiding and leading development processes
  • Developing the team composition
  • Responsible for training
  • Working directly with systems engineering teams and coordinating requirements identification, development and acceptance testing of software deliveries
  • Matrixing multiple programs and development tasks while supporting the various projects objectives of cost and schedule
