About The Position

Kasheesh is reshaping how people manage payments and build healthy financial habits. As an Engineering Manager - Core, you’ll be a cornerstone of that mission. You’ll lead and grow a team of Ruby on Rails engineers while remaining deeply engaged in the technical direction of our platform. You’ll help scale systems, establish engineering best practices, and deliver secure, reliable, and user-friendly products. Engineering Managers at Kasheesh don’t just manage projects, they own outcomes.

Requirements

• Experience managing and developing software engineers, including senior-level engineers.
• Strong understanding of Ruby on Rails architecture (MVC, ActiveRecord, Sidekiq) and how to build and scale production systems.
• Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs, including well-structured endpoints, authentication/authorization, and consistent response patterns.
• Solid grasp of data modeling and performance using PostgreSQL and ActiveRecord.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership:
• Apply your deep knowledge of object oriented programming principles to create clean, maintainable abstractions.
• Guide and review technical decisions around API design, code quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Lead & Grow the Team
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, and career coaching.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and team scaling as the company grows.
• Execution & Delivery
• Own delivery for core product initiatives, ensuring work is well-scoped, prioritized, and executed.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and business stakeholders to align engineering execution with company goals.
• Help translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical plans.
• Improve reliability, observability, and incident response practices.
• Own and drive compliance requests and audit execution, partnering cross-functionally to ensure controls, evidence, and timelines are met.
• Continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, testing practices, and deployment processes.
• Identify and drive initiatives to reduce technical debt, improve performance, and strengthen platform security.
• Champion best practices across engineering and help set the standard for how we build and ship software.
