About The Position

The Engineering & Maintenance Manager at Domtar's Packaging mill in Kingsport, TN is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective management of maintenance, engineering, and reliability processes. This role is crucial for ensuring maximum equipment reliability and asset preservation, contributing to the overall operational success of the mill.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in paper, chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years' experience in a manufacturing setting leading maintenance and capital projects.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems including automation control, AC and DC drives, mechanical drives and systems, PLCs, sensors, and motor controls.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects concurrently in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lead multi-discipline teams both as a supervisor and in a technical capacity.
• Demonstrated success in implementing and optimizing reliability maintenance systems and processes.
• Experience leading in a unionized environment.

Nice To Haves

• Pulp/Paper/Packaging industry experience is preferred.
• Exposure to Six Sigma or Lean Methodologies (Blackbelt or Greenbelt certification desired).
• Business experience with administration, management, and principles involved in strategic planning.
• Use and knowledge of SAP's Plant Maintenance (PM) and Materials Management (MM) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Mill's CMMS optimizing spare parts/materials inventory and maintenance work to minimize unplanned downtime and operating costs.
• Lead the continuous improvement of key performance indicators to increase asset life and department budget cost effectiveness.
• Conduct root cause analysis on asset failures and implement actions to improve manufacturing reliability.
• Manage and control maintenance costs and capital project portfolio to achieve target results while ensuring budgets are prepared and met.
• Lead and develop the Maintenance, Reliability & Engineering teams within the Mill.
• Assist in the development and support of maintenance workforce skills to improve performance and preparedness for future needs.
• Drive sustainable systems to track and report maintenance costs while collaborating with accounting to forecast future expenses.
