About The Position

The Engineering & Maintenance Manager at Saint-Gobain is responsible for ensuring the economic viability and reliability of plant assets to meet production requirements. This role involves promoting continuous improvement programs and fostering teamwork among various departments, including Production, Mechanical, Electrical, and Engineering personnel. The manager will also oversee maintenance activities, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, all while contributing to the plant's competitive position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering, or five years of equivalent training and experience.
  • At least 5-10 years' experience in maintenance in a professional/management role.
  • Strong experience with developing a sustainable World Class Maintenance System.
  • Experience in capital project management, including handling vendors and contractors.
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing equipment repair.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning, organizing, coordinating and directing a Maintenance Department.
  • Proven ability to be an outstanding coach and leader, with succession planning and employee development skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the gypsum manufacturing process and related equipment is an asset.
  • Active interest and success in people development, training systems and error proofing.
  • Change management and conflict management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the economic viability of all plant assets and maximize equipment reliability to meet production requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement programs and teamwork between Production, Mechanical, Electrical, and Engineering personnel.
  • Lead the site World Class Manufacturing program in alignment with the business plan.
  • Enforce safety rules and support programs promoting a safe working environment.
  • Evaluate workplace for safety concerns and ensure behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels.
  • Model company Vision, Mission, and Values and ensure employees do the same.
  • Ensure department employees are properly trained and their skills are regularly assessed.
  • Develop a maintenance vision consistent with the directions and goals of the Plant.
  • Manage the annual Maintenance Budget and oversee all capex project activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislated regulations and corporate policies.
  • Administer the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement fairly and consistently.
