In this role on our Engineering leadership team, you’ll balance leading a team to provide mentoring and guidance to a team of engineers to ensure our high expectations for their performance are met. You have the experience and knowledge to participate in deep technical discussions and aren’t afraid to get hands-on when the team needs you. You’ll work closely with our Product team, other engineering teams, and cross-functionally to develop and prioritize our product roadmap and key initiatives to ensure your team is achieving key milestones and metrics.

  • Working closely with the Engineering VPs and Directors to set clear expectations and deliver on our platform.
  • Building and leading your team as you execute each sprint to the best of your ability.
  • Collaborating with peer engineering managers and leaders to meet company goals.
  • Participating in the hiring process as we continue to build our team.
  • Leading a diverse team of engineers to create innovative end-to-end technical solutions.
  • Growing and scaling the team by attracting, hiring, and retaining world-class talent.
  • Owning performance management and career growth for your team of engineers.
  • Setting up and streamlining effective processes to ensure the right prioritization and urgency.
  • Creating KPIs for the engineering team to track performance and execution of work.
  • Ensuring security processes and protocols are kept up to date for team members.
  • Being a member of a development team and performing development tasks.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in software engineering, computer science, information systems, information technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in back-end software development, Ruby on Rails experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in people/team management.
  • Ability to mentor junior software developers and collaborate with all stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in developing, deploying, and integrating large-scale web applications.
  • Ability and willingness to keep up with software industry trends and innovation.
  • Proficiency in documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with software engineering best practices such as design patterns, code reviews, unit testing, and agile or lean software development frameworks.
  • Proficiency with commonly used AWS services is a big plus.
  • Proficiency with version control using Git.
