IFC - Engineering Lead
About The Position
Embark on a transformative journey as an Engineering Lead. At Barclays, our vision is clear -to redefine the future of banking and help craft innovative solutions. In this role, you will work in close collaboration with Software developers to ensure technical solutions align with business requirements. You will be experienced with coding and have proficiency in DevOps technology and Oracle DB. You will also be responsible for coordinating the efficient delivery of large-scale technical projects and capabilities across Transaction Monitoring Technology, working with key stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations throughout the software product lifecycle. Purpose of the role To lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives.
Requirements
- Experience in PL/SQL, Java and Microsoft-based architecture
- Solid understanding of core computer science concepts including algorithms, data structures, and system design
- Experience designing and delivering scalable, maintainable, and business-aligned technology solutions
- Experience providing guidance and experience to engineering teams, ensuring best practices and technical excellence
- Effective relationship-building ability with internal and external stakeholders
Nice To Haves
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Applying Test-Driven Development (TDD), and DevOps practices, and Docker for containerization
- Understanding of Compliance, Financial Crime, AML, and Transaction Monitoring typologies and concepts
- Collaboration with software engineers, quality teams, product managers and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality products and features through the software project lifecycle
- Acting as a subject matter expert (SME) and trusted point of contact for the development team
- Collaborating with offshore and global teams
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
- Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
- Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
- Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
- Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
