About The Position

The WebSphere team is part of Citi’s Global Mainframe Business Integration (BI) group within Enterprise Services. The technologies this team is involved with include the latest IBM WebSphere software and associated products such z/OS Connect , LDAP, Certificates, DMZ LPARS and uDeploy. We create, customize and support servers running both externally and internally to the bank. The WebSphere team interacts closely and collaborates with other teams in BI supporting CICS, MQ, OCM along with z/OS and z/Linux. In CTI, we are focused on delivering the best for our clients, and we know to do this we need a talented team with diverse experiences, backgrounds, and skills. The Engineering Lead Analyst is responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting WebSphere servers and companion third party software. You will apply your technical knowledge and social skills to leverage our established set up and drive future improvements in the performance of our infrastructure platforms, ensuring we are increasing the quality and reliability of the platform while optimizing its capacity. We are seeking a true team member capable of mentoring less experienced coworkers while successfully coordinating with advanced experts inside and outside WebSphere.

Requirements

  • At least 6+ years of relevant experience
  • You have multiple years of experience in your area of infrastructure technology specialization, preferably in a comparable technology and financial institutions organization.
  • You work independently and are self-directed.
  • You understand the importance of prioritization of your work.
  • Providing a great experience to the users of your platform is important to you.
  • You have skills and proficiency with MS PowerPoint, Excel, Access or other analytical tools.
  • Technical skills required: at least five years’ experience installing, configuring, and supporting IBM’s WebSphere products. This includes Traditional WebSphere and the Liberty Profile Application Server.
  • This is an IBM mainframe WebSphere system programmer position.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science or Engineering degree preferred) or equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • If the applicant has z/OS Connect experience that would be a plus and if not, we will train them in creating, configuring and supporting z/OS Connect.
  • Knowledge of creating and installing certificates on our z/OS platform would be a plus.
  • Ansible Tower knowledge is also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and direction in area of infrastructure technology specialization to support platforms and sectors.
  • Apply the discipline of engineering to deliver critical platform support and optimize platform/sector functionality.
  • Fully understand, support, and define platform and areas supported to minimize risks and impact to customers.
  • Provide On-Call support when it’s your turn in the rotation depending on the region.
  • Review issues and escalations, as well as resolve production problems, ensuring that status and technical matters are reported to management in a timely manner.
  • Utilize skillset to provide support, trouble-shooting and performance-tuning within technical domain.
  • Support the creation and implementation of system improvements that will improve performance and reliability while maintaining controls.
