Plan, coordinate and conduct testing for product development projects. Use instruments for recording and data collection, and analyze information for lab reports and agency approval process. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the development, design and testing of new and existing products. Design and build test fixtures as required. Prepare well documented reports of testing activities including graphic charts of test data in keeping with the latest methods defined in the Engineering Standards library. Test and evaluate new and alternate types of electrical components. Work with the Standards Engineer to prepare tests for agency review. Use data collection equipment such as digital camera, infrared camera, thermocouples, oscilloscope, frequency analyzer and appropriate software to analyze data and develop engineering reports. Assist in the maintenance of the Engineering lab, coordinate work of a Test Intern (when appropriate) and maintain all lab tools and equipment in current state of calibration. Keep the appearance of the R & D lab organized and clean. Design, setup, monitor and report on the long-term reliability tests of products and components in coordination with the Reliability Engineer. Diagnose and repair/rework electronic PCBs that have surface mount and through hole components. Read and understand circuit and wiring schematics and take measurements using electronic test equipment. Perform other related duties as requested by the Engineers and/or the Director of Engineering.
