About The Position

A key technician within the engineering test lab and an essential contributor to lab operations. The candidate will conduct tests using established procedures to ensure process control and evaluate product performance. Responsibilities include performing routine test analysis, assisting with problem identification, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and developing verification/validation test plans. This role provides guidance on test procedures, status updates, and results to product engineers and support personnel. Additionally, the position may involve fabricating tools using conventional machines as part of the testing process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be able to use basic QA dimensional inspection tools, i.e. dial calipers, ID/OD mics, durometer hardness tester, etc., and follow inspection documents.
  • Welding and metal fabrication experience using a variety of tools and processes.
  • Conventional Mill and lathe experience required.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings, mechanical assembly drawings and electronic schematics.
  • Working knowledge of component fault finding.
  • The ability to quickly adapt to frequently changing work priorities is a must.
  • Knowledge of MS Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Advanced Excel skills to manipulate data for publication of test results.
  • Sufficient knowledge to work with direction on test equipment.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English as it relates to the job.
  • Forklift Certification and Hazmat Certification
  • Standing on concrete factory floor as needed in production and engineering lab.
  • Must be able to wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses and other PPE equipment as required for work function.
  • Ability to safety reach, stretch, bend and lift parts and product from a standing position.
  • Up to 50lbs lifting and manipulation of product.
  • Powered and hand tools to perform the function of position. Conventional lathe and mill machining.
  • 1 st shift in office and temperature-controlled factory.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test industrial equipment according to blueprints and engineering specifications, in the most cost-effective and safest manner possible. while meeting production schedules.
  • Develops new designs and assembles electrical, electro-mechanical, test apparatus, and related items for testing and evaluation of systems components and tools.
  • Operates and maintains lab equipment to perform a variety of routine materials engineering tests. Assists test customers in drafting test plans/matrices by incorporating standard test offerings into Excel. Check dimensions of prototypes to ensure accuracy prior to conducting functional and performance tests.
  • Selects components and testing equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
  • Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests, evaluates and records results.
  • Maintains testing systems and completes lab work queues to ensure that lab tests are completed on time. Maintains workflow and adjusts priorities based on urgent requests.
  • Monitors and participates in the implementation of improvements for lab operations.
  • Creates lab operations test schedules, SOP s and other daily protocols of similar nature.
  • Data entry, preparation of test specimens, setup of testing equipment and running tests per documented lab procedures.
  • Interface with design engineering, process engineering, production, and QA personnel.
  • Communicates and/or maintains engineering data or other testing information to the appropriate personnel.
