About The Position

Are you an engineering or computer science student seeking a rewarding, practical experience with a world-class engineering firm? The ARA Engineering Science Division (ESD) is seeking students interested in a year-round internship with our Rapid Prototyping and Robotics team. This is an on-site, part-time position in our office in San Antonio, TX—in the Hollywood Park area on the north side, near the intersection of Highway 1604 and Highway 281. Interns are expected to work approximately 15 hours per week. The specific hours/days are flexible, as long as you maintain a fixed, repeatable schedule. Interns will be involved in technically challenging projects which will enhance their learning experience. Additionally, upon graduation, interns with outstanding performance frequently move into full-time positions at ARA. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s or graduate Engineering or Computer Science degree program. Undergraduates must be in at least their second year of study.
  • Experience in C++.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating system.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • U.S. citizenship required. Candidates selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

  • Prototyping (mechanical and electrical fabrication/assembly, hardware and firmware quality testing, performance testing, etc.)
  • Software development in C++ (bug fixing, quality testing, refinement, etc.)
  • Administrative support (documentation, purchasing, reporting, etc.)
  • Laboratory management (small scale electronics, 3D printing, mini CNC setup, etc.)
