About The Position

The Engineering Intern will work closely with our team of Engineers, Sales, and
field staff to support Maxim’s fleet of rental equipment and undertake special
engineering and research projects.  Under the supervision of the Director of
Engineering, the Engineering Intern will assist in assessing project
requirements, developing technical drawings, advance analysis techniques and
databases and support documentation for equipment installations and lift plans.
This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in engineering
practices and project execution.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline or technical degree.
• Basic understanding of applied geometry and statics.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Exposure to AutoCAD (2D) or similar drafting software; 3D modeling experience is a plus.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Eagerness to learn and apply engineering principles in a real-world setting.

Nice To Haves

• Previous internship, co-op experience, or project-related coursework is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing project drawings and plans to perform calculations.
• Support the development of crane layouts and rigging details for crane lifts in private, commercial, and industrial settings.
• Use AutoCAD or similar drafting software to create 2D design documents and 3D models under the guidance of senior team members.
• Assist in preparing documentation for customers, including project plans and progress updates.
• Perform ground bearing pressure calculations for track-mounted and outrigger-based cranes, as directed.
• Provide general support to the engineering team for drafting, design work, and analysis tasks.
• Perform other duties or tasks as assigned to support project needs.
