Job Summary & Essential Functions: The following describes in general terms the purpose and scope of the position. The intern position is an opportunity for an Engineering student to gain real world experience in a manufacturing environment, while concurrently providing benefit to Titeflex by performing a variety of engineering tasks in either the Project or Manufacturing Engineering areas. Job duties include but are not limited to; Working on Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development in all engineering areas. Will also support our SOP Development Process TTI (Target to Improve). The intern will help to execute our build-ahead plan by assisting in the SOP development process by gathering data (pictures, machine settings, process risks or issues, inspection methods) during the process to build into the SOP. This experience will give the individual a deep understanding of our processes, and also help Titeflex in developing a solid SOP process to build on in the future. May be responsible for reading and interpreting customers: Request for quote, contracts, purchase orders, electronic or hard copy drawings, and specifications. Through the evaluation of this data, the Intern may create quotation packages, documents, drawings and processes for the purpose of meeting customer requirements. The intern is expected to work cooperatively as a member of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) that includes Engineering, Quality, Finance and Supply Chain. Experience utilizing AutoCAD 2D/3D preferred but will train. Proficient skills creating and manipulating spreadsheet packages, but will train. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and be able to integrate that knowledge onto process flow and tool design assistance. Reads and has a thorough understanding of Engineering Drawings and parts lists. Coordinate the necessary information with other engineers to make corrections and improvements to planning, tooling, programs or processes. Develop Standard Operating Procedures utilizing drawings and specifications as well as interviews with operators. Participate in improvement activities with Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Manager to support manufacturing operations. Data collection and analysis for continuous improvement of production processes. Propose process changes to improve quality or throughput. Acceptable attendance is an essential function of this position. Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Safety glasses, safety shoes and other designated personal protective equipment as required for this position. Working conditions are 50% office and 50% manufacturing environment. Safety glasses required in all manufacturing areas. Safety Steel-Toed Shoes required in all manufacturing areas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. Hearing protection is required in designated areas.
