AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Coral Gables on January 15-16, 2026. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026. The event kicks off on Thursday evening with a networking mixer where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines. On Friday, interviews will take place at our Coral Gables office . This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities. AECOM is seeking an Engineering Intern to be based in Coral Gables or Fort Lauderdale FL . The successful candidate will support the highway design teams in South Florida by working with different disciplines to complete a variety of projects. Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or another related field and must have completed at least 2 years of study.
  • Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
  • Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship

  • Degree emphasis in transportation engineering preferred.

  • Demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, ORD, Civil 3D, or other engineering software packages.

  • Detail-oriented while still being able to understand and comply with the big picture and goals of a project.
  • Documents time and effort accurately.
  • Interest in transportation infrastructure design.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects for a variety of clients.
  • Assist with discrete work tasks required in preparation of roadway design set of plans.
  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Carry out engineering analyses and prepare reports and technical specifications under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure project objectives are met within the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collect and analyze data, perform field work, and undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Attend site visits and meetings in clients’ offices.
  • Maintain project records and files, contribute to the preparation of progress reports, and communicate project and task updates to team members and supervisors as needed.
  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level member.
