Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is now accepting applications for its Summer 2026 Intern Program. This exciting opportunity offers a paid, 10-week experience for selected senior or recently graduated students. The program will run from June 1 to August 7. Eligible students will be seniors or recent graduates, possess U.S. work authorization, and be able to work full-time on a 5-day-per-week on-site schedule. Additionally, participation in this program requires that you be located in the United States for the duration of the engagement. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged. The application window is open until March 15, 2026; however, it may close earlier if all available roles are filled. Applications submitted after the application window or once a role is closed/projects are full will not be considered. We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Engineering Intern to join our team in Plano, TX. As an intern, you will contribute to the design, development, and testing of innovative engineering solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Science (CS), or Wireless Communications, with a preference for an advanced degree in wireless communications.
  • Minimum of 1+ year of knowledge or experience in wireless technologies.
  • A general understanding of overall wireless systems, with emphasis on PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC, and PDCP layers.
  • Knowledge of 5G and 4G air interface technologies, call processing, and network architecture, specifically focused on Radio Access Network (RAN).
  • A general understanding of hardware and software architecture.
  • Knowledge of 4G/5G LTE call processing and in-depth understanding of RRC, S1-MME, S1-U, and X2 protocols.
  • Familiarity with concepts such as Hybrid Beamforming, Massive MIMO, New Waveforms, LTE-NR interworking & co-existence, and 5G Numerologies.
  • Prior internship or work experience in system engineering, including technical requirements identification, technical solutions development, creating technical documentation (e.g., parameter optimization, performance analysis, test strategy, and troubleshooting), is highly desirable.
  • A general understanding of protocol analyzers and test tools such as XCAL, QXDM, Wireshark, Channel Emulator, and Spectrum Analyzers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and test Radio Access Network (RAN) Air Interface features in both commercial and laboratory environments.
  • Collaborate closely with support teams, logistics, and cross-functional groups from SEA and Samsung headquarters.
  • Contribute to the successful rollout and development of new products.
