About The Position

Emerson’s Energy Transportation Solutions business has an internship opportunity supporting our SCADA Marketing and Sales teams. This role is ideal for students interested in controls, automation, instrumentation, or energy technology. As an Engineering Intern on our Sales team, you will contribute to the development of engineering documentation for Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), flow computers, and SCADA equipment, including the creation of CAD drawings and the development of equipment-specific lockout specifications

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Electrical or Computer Engineering program at an accredited college/university
  • Do not need sponsorship now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or exposure to control systems, electrical design, or automation technologies.
  • Some knowledge or experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar CAD tools (academic experience acceptable).
  • Some familiarity with SCADA systems, PLC/RTU hardware, or flow measurement technologies
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow engineering standards and procedures
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Interest in or knowledge of Industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet/IP, etc
  • Interest in energy infrastructure, industrial automation, or control systems engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Create, update, and maintain CAD drawings (mechanical, electrical, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts) for RTU, flow computer, and SCADA system assemblies.
  • Assist in developing strong lockout specifications for RTUs, flow computers, and field SCADA equipment.
  • Support product marketing team with documentation of hardware configurations, wiring standards, installation requirements, and component specifications. (including data organization, battle cards, bill of materials updates, price book updates)
  • Perform validation checks on drawings and documents to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to internal standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and field services teams to gather technical requirements and incorporate feedback into deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and project meetings as assigned
