About The Position

Gather relevant technical data, design requirements, and other necessary information to help determine the best solution for aircraft related issues and projects. Reverse engineer parts and assemblies to generate manufacturing drawings of legacy aircraft components Perform hand calculations, utilize CAD, FEA tools, and technical data to help develop, assess, or optimize parts, repairs, or modification designs. Work with onsite resources, such as the fabrication shop, 3d printers, waterjet table, etc., to generate prototypes and installation ready parts and assemblies. Aid in generating documents, design drawings, and detailed substantiation reports based on FEA simulations, hand calculations, and research for in-house requirements and USAF/NAVY/FAA deliverables. Research equivalent fit/form/function part replacements for engineering recommendation of use for non-procurable parts Support all engineering processes and help develop or optimize new processes as needed.

Requirements

  • In-progress BS in mechanical or aerospace/aeronautical engineering or relevant specialty
  • Team project experience (collegiate project teams or prior intern/professional settings)
  • Strong CAD design skills (any platform) and technical drawing fundamentals (related coursework applies)
  • Strong understanding and initial coursework complete for engineering fundamentals: structures/statics, materials, fluids/aero, thermal, mech/design
