About The Position

OUC – The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, is offering an internship program in the Transformation & Technology division. The OUC Internship Program is dedicated to providing students with real-world, hands-on experience by partnering with energy leaders and experienced professionals, while bringing new and out-of-the-box perspectives and ideas that are essential for fostering the creativity and growth of any business. OUC’s internship program provides emerging talent with an immersive view of the utility industry through on-the-job training, educational sessions, self-paced learning courses, and individual or team projects. We are looking for an Engineering Intern. During this internship, you will partner with the Emerging Technology team.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Academic status of Junior or above.
  • Program of study: Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer or a related field.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of application.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Previous internship experience preferred
  • Strong academic foundation in data scripting, programming, or automation.
  • Ability to support dashboard development and monitoring, including interpreting data trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in 3D printing processes, prototyping, and design for manufacturing concepts
  • Basic understanding of data visualization tools or experience creating dashboards (Power BI or Tableau).
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and support collaborative team efforts.
  • CAD Design a plus

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining data logging scripts to support collection and analysis of equipment and field system performance.
  • Assisting engineers with field support activities, including setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of data logging stations.
  • Designing and fabricating 3D-printed parts and tools to support prototyping and maintenance tasks across projects and operational use cases.
  • Developing and executing on experiments that explore new technologies for grid operations
  • Supporting dashboards for visualizing data from fielded systems such as charging station operations or other deployed technologies.
