About The Position

As an Engineering Intern, working under the general supervision of a Senior Engineer, you will support the Manufacturing Engineering team in improving processes, equipment, and systems within a high-volume production environment. This role provides hands-on experience in applying engineering principles to real-world manufacturing challenges, including process optimization, equipment validation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
  • Ability to commute to Sumter, SC.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and ability to apply them in a practical setting.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion360, AutoCad) and basic product design concepts.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform testing using written instructions and comprehend basic descriptive statistics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic software applications.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Oral and written presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with engineering assignments related to manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Apply engineering principles to troubleshoot and improve production operations.
  • Support documentation efforts, including initiating and revising technical documents and tracking approvals.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to implement process improvements.
  • Provide technical support on components, materials, and manufacturing methods.
  • Assist an engineering project leader by completing technical tasks such as design and solid modeling, coordinating purchasing or assembly of components, and implementing improvements using standard validation processes.
  • Act as an engineering representative for Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) teams. Intern will help the TPM team identify, isolate, and solve reoccurring production problems.
  • Analyze design inputs and prepare written and oral project updates.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends and recommend solutions for process optimization.
  • Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
