The Internship Program is designed to provide experience for students pursuing careers in the operations & engineering functions of television broadcasting and digital storytelling.   Some projects the intern might be involved with:   Learn about what an engineering department at a broadcast facility does, the different roles and responsibilities, and what skills are needed to be successful. Observe Electronic Newsgathering in the field and how we use numerous advanced technologies to capture and transmit content for our newscasts. Observe and participate in the technical preparation for our daily broadcasts and learn how problems are solved in a deadline-driven environment. Learn about the various technologies we use for transmitting and receiving video and audio signals from around the world, including Starlink IP Satellite technology, bonded cellular transmitters, dedicated fiber optic networks, point-to-point microwave links and high-power broadcast transmitters on the tops of mountains! We use this technology every day to support our newsgathering efforts. Learn about Virtual Reality studio production technology. We recently installed a new Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality studio which allows storytelling using live action mixed with virtual worlds we create! Learn about IP/Internet technologies being used in broadcasting in support of both over-the-air broadcasts and our various streaming outlets. In addition to technical topics you will also have an opportunity to work in other departments at the facility and learn their operations.

Requirements

  • Aptitude/interest in computer networking, electrical engineering, transmission technologies (radio, satellite, live streaming, etc.).
  • Interest in working in a state-of-the-art broadcast facility with an emphasis on local news production.
  • Open to working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Must have some experience and be comfortable with using hand tools (screwdrivers, wire cutters, etc.) as you may be involved in projects which require those skills (fabricating cables, installing equipment, etc.).
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs unassisted (you may be unpacking equipment from boxes, installing equipment in racks, etc.).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license as some travel/operation of station vehicles may be required.
  • Internships are available to students who will be Seniors or Master’s students in the fall of 2026. If you are a graduating Senior, please check our website for full-time job opportunities.
  • You must be available to intern full-time (5 days a week/36-40 hours a week) for 10 weeks total starting in June.
  • Interns will be required to work fully on-site for the duration of the program. Note: Paramount does not provide financial relocation support or housing stipends.
  • Internships are paid at a competitive standard hourly rate (school credit is optional).
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
  • Employment eligibility to work with Paramount in the United States is required as the company does not engage in sponsorship for internships.
