Engineering Intern - Facility
About The Position
Tosoh SMD, Inc. is a global leader in semiconductor materials for the electronics, aeronautics and medical industries, managing the entire life cycle of its products from supply chain development to distribution at its Grove City, OH facility. The Engineering Intern role offers hands-on experience by working on meaningful projects that benefit Tosoh SMD’s technical teams. Interns support these teams through testing, process and product development, problem solving, and continuous improvement initiatives. Specifically, Facility Engineers are responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of facilities and equipment supporting the Tosoh campus, ensuring manufacturing processes have necessary utilities and functional space. This position also involves providing technical assistance to manufacturing and maintenance personnel for facility-based equipment operation and maintenance, creating design schematics, maintenance schedules, and reports for functional analysis. Facility Engineers drive capital requests for upgrades and serve as experts, providing training and mentoring.
Requirements
- Undergraduate college student pursuing an engineering major or equivalent.
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills and willingness to take direction and collaborate with others.
- Computer literacy required.
Responsibilities
- Completes project work, as assigned.
- Collects and analyzes data, maintaining clear and detailed documentation.
- Assists the technical teams with problem solving, investigations, and other tasks as issues arise.
- Supports continuous improvement by bringing suggestions and new ideas.
- Understands and adheres to all safety requirements.
- Communicates identified risks to leadership and assists in resolution.
- Completes all 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) standards to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Contributes to culture through alignment with company values and code of conduct.
- Maintains a positive attitude, displays enthusiasm for assigned tasks, and communicates effectively and professionally with team members.
