About The Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Intern, working under the general supervision of a Senior Engineer, to assist our team in digitizing engineering documents and drawings. This role will involve converting legacy paper-based files into digital formats and ensuring accurate representation using CAD tools. The intern will gain hands-on experience in engineering documentation processes and exposure to industry-standard software. Part-Time, Internship (up to 40 hours/week in summer, approximately 20 hours/week during semesters, work hours can be adjusted to accommodate school schedule). Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a technical college pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and terminology.
  • Familiarity with document management systems.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing or facility layouts.
  • Must be able to move freely throughout the plant, including warehouse, shipping/receiving, and sterilization areas.
  • Frequent standing and walking required during plant floor supervision and process observation.
  • Moderate sitting during meetings, planning, and administrative tasks.
  • Occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and climbing (e.g., stairs, equipment platforms).
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when in designated areas.
  • BD is a smoke-free campus. Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy
  • False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals. Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor.
  • Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Scan, organize, and digitize engineering documents and drawings.
  • Recreate or update existing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Maintain accurate file naming and storage in the document management system.
  • Collaborate with engineers to verify dimensions and specifications.
  • Assist in quality checks to ensure digital files meet company standards.
  • Support other engineering documentation tasks as needed.
