About Our Internship Program: Throughout your internship, you will have regular events, weekly lunch and learn sessions, and receive customized training from our business units. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights into supporting the needs of Stanley Black & Decker both in the US and abroad. The interns will gain first-hand exposure to Stanley Black & Decker and have the opportunity to build a cross-functional professional network. Interns are expected to adapt to change and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, and confidence. Interns must be team-oriented and collaborative. The Job: As an Intern on our IoT Connected Backend Services team you will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in developing and maintaining backend services that power IoT applications. You will work closely with experienced engineers and Software Developers and contribute to projects that have a real impact on our products and services such as:

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with a target graduation date of 2028 or 2027.
  • Strong understanding of programming languages such as Typescript, Python, Java, C or Node.js.
  • Knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus.
  • Experience with IoT device firmware development and mobile deveoplment is an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, optimization and deployment of backend services for IoT applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate IoT devices with cloud-based platforms.
  • Participate in the development of APIs and microservices to support IoT data processing and analytics.
  • Help in optimizing and scaling backend systems to handle large volumes of IoT data.
  • Conduct testing and debugging of backend services to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Document technical specifications and processes for future reference.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in IoT and backend development.
