About The Position

Engineering Estimators are the analytical pathfinders of Janicki’s projects, bridging the gap between complex customer requirements and actionable manufacturing contracts. You will be a part of a team focused on some of the largest and most complex composite & metallic aerospace products in industry. You will work across multiple engineering disciplines to evaluate technical specifications, engineer cost-based solutions, guide high level manufacturing plans, and author detailed technical proposals. The Technical Estimator is responsible for the accuracy of project scoping and must thrive in a detail-oriented environment with strict timelines. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be both and internal and external-facing member of the Janicki team, and success in this environment offers tremendous growth within Janicki’s expanding reach across the Aerospace market.

Requirements

  • Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent) is required
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Experience with aerospace processes and industry terminologies.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience as a manufacturing Project Manager or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred
  • Active Secret level clearance preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and understanding of cost/schedule estimating principals
  • Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning Software
  • Experience with 3D CAD Software (CATIA, NX Unigraphics, etc.)
  • Experience evaluating technical drawings and basic GD&T knowledge
  • Experience creating large excel workbooks used for preparing and presenting sales proposals to internal and external customers
  • Experience being involved in projects from bid to delivery and support of customers

Responsibilities

  • Technical Analysis: Performs complex aerospace manufacturing estimating activities, often deriving solutions from minimal initial data or conceptual designs
  • Data Decomposition: Analyzes 3D geometry, engineering drawings, specifications, RFQs, and Statements of Work (SOW) to determine manufacturing feasibility
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Reviews project requirements with Program Management, Design, Operations, and Engineering to determine precise material, labor, and equipment needs
  • Risk Mitigation: Provides initial technical risk assessments for both cost and schedule, reviewing these factors with leadership to ensure project viability
  • Proposal Engineering: Authors technical proposals and manages the documentation for project scope changes, ensuring all requirements and technical terms are accurately captured
  • Data Analytics: Analyzes "to-date" actuals and completed project costs to refine cost-calculators and develop standardized templates for future estimating accuracy
  • Standardization: Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard time and cost data for recurring manufacturing processes
  • Project Forecasting: Maintains the technical estimating database, ensuring all price revisions and scoped work are updated to support accurate internal revenue forecasting
  • Customer Interaction: Reviews scope definition and changes with customers to ensure clarity and accuracy. Develops and maintains customer relationships in a collaborative and professional manner.
  • Operational Excellence: Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. Demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and internal stakeholders at all times
